5. Unbundle the stack

We needed a shared list of who had a Thursday laundry slot. A Google Sheet with an RA as registrar would have done that job: one person edits, everyone reads. We did not need a global consensus computer to stop two people booking the same dryer — the RA already sits in the building.

We rented Sepolia anyway, so we borrowed someone else’s consensus. That was a rail, not the product. The product was the booking rule.

We did want a token rather than a verbal “I’ll save you a machine,” because classmates outside the floor had to pay and we had to show a tx on demo day. An escrow tab (“RA holds a sticky note”) would have been enough inside the dorm. The token earned its keep only when a stranger swapped SPIN for CLASSUSD in the class bowl — that is a market object, not a chat IOU.

If a licensed campus-ops shop asked us tomorrow: partner for the booking list (they already have a work-order database); pass on deploying a public chain for laundry. Copy the kill rule (pause if a slot is not honored in 24 hours). Do not copy the chain.

Your memo still needs the other seven headings (problem, mechanism, circulation evidence, market, what broke, go/partner/pass, sources). Numbers beat adjectives. No price prediction.
